Uses:
Acne scarring
Pigmentation of the skin (chloasma)
Fine lines
Stretch marks
How is the procedure performed?
The skin is first cleansed.
Corundum is applied to the skin using a specialised device which allows the powder to be applied under pressure, resulting in the surface of the skin being abraded (peeled).
The corundum powder is then brushed or washed away.
A moisturiser and sunblock are then applied.
How long does the procedure take?
About 15 minutes
What medication is used for Chloasma after microdermabrasion?
This practice uses the Neostrata and Vitasure range of products with microdermabrasion. The following products are used
For pigmentation:
•Neostrata complexion gel at night
•Neostrata brightening cream in the morning
•Vitasure gentle cleanser twice a day
•Vitasure day cream with SPF 30 every morning
How many treatments?
At least 8 treatments are often required to see a difference.
What happens if the Neostrata products do not lighten the skin sufficiently?
Hydroquinone in varying strengths can then be used. Because of the possibility of side effects with prolonged use, these products are used under supervision of your dermatologist and for limited periods only.
